How FaceMe works

Everything you need to go from sign-up to your first recorded take, in about five minutes.

What you need

💻 A laptop or desktop

With the latest Google Chrome. FaceMe works best on a computer. Phones can work, but the camera stops if you switch apps or lock the screen.

📷 A webcam

The built-in laptop camera is fine. An external HD webcam looks even better.

💡 Good light on your face

Face a window or a lamp. Avoid strong light behind you.

📶 A stable internet connection

About 4 Mbps both up and down: good Wi-Fi, or a strong 4G/5G signal. Live video uses a lot of data, so make sure you have enough. Some office, school and public Wi-Fi networks and most VPNs block live video. The Studio checks your connection automatically when your camera turns on, and tells you if there's a problem.

Step by step

    Sign up free

    Create an account with your email or Google. You must be 18 or older.

    Buy credits

    Go to Buy credits and pick a pack, or choose your own amount. 1 credit = 1 second, at ₦55 ≈ $0.04 per credit. Every pack includes all features, and credits are valid for 6 months. You pay securely with Paystack.

    Open the Studio and turn on your camera

    The camera preview is free. Use it to check your lighting and framing. You can also use a short video file (up to 2 min) that you own instead of the camera.

    Pick a character

    Tap one of the sample characters, or upload a clear, front-facing photo (JPEG, PNG or WebP, at least 512 × 512 pixels) of a face you have the right to use, and tick the box to confirm.

    Press Go live

    Billing starts when your session connects, including a short warm-up of about 5 to 10 seconds. Your character appears after the warm-up. You can switch characters while live at no extra cost.

    Record and stop

    Press Record to save the take to your computer. Press Stop when you're done: you only pay for the seconds you used. A session lasts up to 10 minutes, or until your credits run out; press Go live again to continue.

Tips for great results

  • ✓ Use a sharp, well-lit, front-facing portrait with the whole face visible.
  • ✓ Match your camera angle to the photo: if the photo is straight-on, face the camera.
  • ✓ Keep your face lit and centred; a plain background helps.
  • ✓ Move naturally. Very fast head turns can blur the effect.
  • ✓ Close other apps and browser tabs that use the internet or camera.
  • ✓ Before a long recording, go live for about 30 seconds and press Stop to check how it looks.

Paying

Payments go through Paystack, using your card or the other options Paystack offers at checkout. Cards from outside Nigeria are accepted. Prices are in Nigerian naira (NGN); we show an approximate US dollar amount next to each price, and your bank converts the naira amount at its own rate. We never see your card number.

Paystack's card fee is added at checkout, and we show an estimate before you pay. Credits usually arrive within seconds, and are valid for 6 months (your oldest credits are used first). If yours haven't after 30 minutes, contact us with your payment reference (it starts with "zf-").

The rules

  • • Only use your own face, an original character, or the face of someone who clearly agreed.
  • • Never impersonate real people, run scams, make sexual content, use images of anyone under 18, or harass anyone.
  • • Always say it's AI when you share, and don't remove the watermark.
